“Discarded America” is a documentary film from Indie Genius Productions that takes an in-depth look at racial and social injustice in rural America through the eyes of people with mental health concerns who have been affected by law enforcement, educators and public policy.

Award-winning filmmaker Curt Johnson has been working in film since college beginning with the Academy Award winning "Common Threads: Stories From the Quilt" and "Thoth." His last controversial film "Your Mommy Kills Animals" won numerous awards along with critical acclaim. He is currently working on "Discarded America" and the Native American-themed "Sunrise.

Ben Ramsey is a gay man living with mental illness. He has personal lived experience in the areas of LGBTQ+ harassment and discrimination, as well as childhood and religious trauma. He has been a supporter, activist, and advocate for the LGBTQ+, and other marginalized communities for more than 20 years.
